TL;DR. NVIDIA technology introduced at IFA 2026 that lets a local PC dynamically split heavy AI inference across multiple consumer-grade GPUs in the home.

Technical Definition

NVIDIA technology introduced at IFA 2026 that lets a local PC dynamically split heavy AI inference across multiple consumer-grade GPUs in the home.

How it works

PAIR treats the GPUs already in a household — a gaming rig, a workstation, a laptop — as one pooled inference resource. A router layer profiles the request, partitions the model or the batch across available devices, and reassembles the result, so a model too large for any single consumer card still runs locally. The benefits are privacy (data never leaves the home), cost (no per-token cloud bill), and latency on repeated workloads. The challenges are interconnect bandwidth between devices, thermal and power coordination, and scheduling when devices are also busy gaming or rendering.

Visual Explanation (flowchart)

User request → PAIR router → split across GPU 1 / GPU 2 / GPU 3 → partial results merged → response

  • Local Decision Models — Compact on-device models — like Google's Gemma 4 and Xiaomi's MiMo-V2.6 — that act as traffic controllers, solving tasks locally and calling cloud APIs only for frontier-level reasoning.
  • Edge AI — Running AI models directly on user devices instead of cloud servers.
  • On-device AI — AI models that run directly on edge devices (e.g., smartphones, IoT) rather than relying on cloud servers for inference.
