TL;DR. A logical rule where if a statement implies another, and the second statement is false, then the first statement must also be false.

Technical Definition

A logical rule where if a statement implies another, and the second statement is false, then the first statement must also be false.

How it works

Modus Tollens is a valid rule of inference in logic. It follows the principle that if a condition 'If P, then Q' holds, and Q is false, then P must also be false. This is because if P were true, Q would necessarily be true according to the initial statement.
