TL;DR. Assuming an individual possesses characteristics solely because they belong to a certain group.
Technical Definition
Assuming an individual possesses characteristics solely because they belong to a certain group.
How it works
Group attribution bias occurs when we incorrectly assume that traits or behaviors observed in one member of a group are representative of all members of that group. This can lead to unfair generalizations and stereotyping. The bias can be amplified if the data used to form these opinions comes from a non-representative sample.
