Autonomic Computing (AC) aims to create computer systems that can manage themselves without human intervention, much like the human autonomic nervous system. These systems are designed to adapt to unpredictable changes, optimize their own performance, heal themselves from failures, and protect against attacks, thereby reducing complexity and improving reliability.
