TL;DR. Forwarding AI-generated text without reading it — the sending action of a meat proxy.
Technical Definition
Forwarding AI-generated text without reading it — the sending action of a meat proxy.
How it works
Part of the October 2026 Etzioni–Weld slang set, the AI slap is the moment unreviewed machine output arrives in your inbox, chat or code review: it stings because the sender delegated judgment to a model and passed the cost on to you. The phrase did fast duty in workplace commentary as a one-word critique of AI-assisted busywork, alongside 'AI suspicion' (the nagging feeling a text was machine-written) and 'AI shaming' (the accusation that follows). It belongs to the counter-vocabulary that grew up alongside AI adoption — not describing the technology, but describing what careless use of it does to the people downstream. As a norm, 'no AI slaps' is a surprisingly effective team policy: forwards must carry a human summary or a human reason.
